VYJ’s My Community Cares Program Lends a Helping Hand

Teamwork makes the dream work! Recently, the Volunteers for Youth Justice My Community Cares program was recognized along with other community partners for their partnership with Cedar Grove SDA Church, where they assisted over 175 families in Shreveport’s Cedar Grove neighborhood at their Community Health Fair and Fun Day!

Thanks to the teamwork of local community groups, over 175 people had the chance to meet directly with a doctor, nurse practitioner, and licensed counselor. Residents received health screenings and learned about health and wellness through education and prevention programs. They also received healthy cookbooks, free CPR and aerobics classes, and free undergarments and toothbrushes for children. Additionally, valuable information about local community resources and healthcare options was provided.

The event was held on Sunday, June 9th. Thank you for letting us be a part of the fun!
