Volunteers for Youth Justice is thrilled to announce the grand opening of our new Calming Studio at The Harbor. This state-of-the-art facility will be available by appointment for use by our community partners, and we’ll unveil it officially on October 10th at 10 AM. The Harbor is located at 3004 Knight Street, Building 6, Shreveport, LA 71105.
The Calming Studio is instrumental to the VYJ mission, as it emphasizes the vital role of play in building connectedness, teaching social skills, and fostering essential competencies. Grounded in the principles of Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®), this space will offer an innovative approach to meeting the complex needs of vulnerable children. TBRI® is an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention that employs:
- Empowering Principles to address physical needs,
- Connecting Principles to enhance attachment, and
- Correcting Principles to disarm fear-based behaviors.
While TBRI® is rooted in years of research on attachment, sensory processing, and neuroscience, its heartbeat lies in connection. The Calming Studio will serve as a nurturing environment where children can engage in play, fostering resilience and emotional regulation.
The mission of Volunteers for Youth Justice is to provide a community caring for children, youth, and families in crisis.
Join us for the open house and explore how the Calming Studio can support our community in promoting the well-being of youth and families. This grand opening is a significant step toward enhancing the resources available for our partners, constituents, and families.
Volunteers for Youth Justice is dedicated to empowering and advocating for youth and families in our community. Through innovative programs and partnerships, we strive to create a safe and supportive environment for all.
