Thank You for Making VYJ’s First Haunt the Harbor an Unforgettable Success!
Volunteers for Youth Justice (VYJ) extends a heartfelt thank you to the Shreveport-Bossier community for the incredible support and enthusiasm shown at our inaugural Haunt the Harbor event. Held on October 25th, this first-time fall festival exceeded all expectations, with families turning out in high spirits and enjoying trick-or-treating, food, games, and more. In fact, the turnout was so good that we had to make not one, but two additional candy runs to keep the fun going!
We are immensely grateful to our sponsors, Rice and Kendig Injury Lawyers and WIELAND Construction, whose generosity made this event possible. Special thanks also go to our angel sponsor, whose support provided trick-or-treat bags for all the kids, making their night even more memorable.
A big thank you goes to the AKA Debutantes and Jack and Jill members, who volunteered their time to ensure everyone enjoyed a safe and fun-filled evening. Their dedication and energy were vital in creating a welcoming atmosphere for all.
Haunt the Harbor brought together our six essential programs, including CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), FINS (Family in Need of Service), MCC (My Community Cares), TASC (Truancy Assessment Service Center), YEC (Youth Empowerment Center), and Youth Programs, alongside local organizations also housed at The Harbor, including Access and Opportunity Links, Caddo Parish Schools, Project Celebration, and the Food Bank of NWLA, among many others. Together, we showcased the invaluable services available for families and children in our area, building awareness and fostering partnerships that strengthen our community.
This event wouldn’t have been the same without the outpouring of support from our volunteers, partners, and local families. Thank you for joining us to make this inaugural event such a success! With your continued involvement, we look forward to growing Haunt the Harbor in the years to come and creating even more lasting memories together.
Stay tuned for what’s next at VYJ. With each event and every interaction, we’re working to provide a community caring for children, youth, and families in crisis. Check out the Volunteers for Youth Justice Facebook page to see pictures and videos from the event.
