Shreveport, LA — July 11, 2024 — My Community Cares (MCC), a program of Volunteers for Youth Justice, in collaboration with AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana is hosting a Back-to-School Health Fair and School Supply Giveaway on Saturday, July 20th, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana Community Wellness Center, 3709 Jewella Avenue, Shreveport, LA 71109.
MCC aims to strengthen families and prevent child abuse and neglect. Families and children in these neighborhoods can receive essential school supplies, learn about community resources, and receive a haircut voucher from a master barber or beautician. The event will also offer no-cost health screenings, vaccinations, and complimentary popcorn and drinks.
Last year, generous donors provided over 250 children in our area with school supplies during the AmeriHealth Caritas annual Back-to-School Event. If you would like to donate supplies to be given away at this event, please drop them off at the AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana Community Wellness Center, 3709 Jewella Avenue, Shreveport, LA 71109 by July 18th or contact Dustin Dawson for pick up at (318)626-6263 or ddawson@amerihealthcaritasla.com. Items needed include pencils, pens, loose leaf paper, folders, hand sanitizer, socks, hygiene products, backpacks (clear or mesh), notebooks, water bottles, glue, scissors, and crayons/markers.
