Have you heard of Teen Court? It’s one of the programs offered by Volunteers for Youth Justice in our lineup of Youth Programs. Recently, seven seniors who were active in ‘Raider Court’ at Huntington High School in Shreveport, LA, had an incredible opportunity—they traveled to Washington D.C. and New York City for a once-in-a-lifetime experience!
Thanks to our generous donors, these seven young adults now have a broader perspective after their trip, adding to the leadership skills they developed in Raider Court. Their itinerary was packed with visits to memorials, the Supreme Court, the Library of Congress, Arlington Cemetery, Central Park, Ellis Island, a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, and even catching The Great Gatsby on Broadway. The Close Up High School program kept our students busy, and engaged, and enabled them to exchange ideas with other students from around the world.
On Wednesday, July 17th, the students shared about their special experiences at The Harbor. They all described the trip as life-changing and agreed that it expanded their education beyond textbooks. They wanted to thank everyone who made this unforgettable journey possible. Thank you!
